Pearsall, who returned to training just a week after the incident, recently spoke about his desire to meet and forgive the 17-year-old responsible for the shooting. “I don’t know his story, his upbringing, or what led him to make that choice,” Pearsall shared with reporters. “As violent as it was, I can’t judge him solely on that one action. Forgiving him lifts the weight off my chest.”

The young athlete expressed a sincere hope to understand the motivations behind the attack and to positively influence the teenager’s life. “If there’s a chance to create an impact on him, to steer him away from this path, I’d be open to that,” Pearsall said.

The shooting occurred during a physical altercation as the teenager attempted to rob Pearsall at gunpoint. Both Pearsall and the suspect were injured and taken to a hospital. The suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed due to his age, faces multiple charges, including attempted murder and assault with a firearm.

Pearsall’s remarkable recovery saw him rejoin the 49ers mid-season, completing 11 games with 31 receptions for 400 yards and three touchdowns. Drafted 31st overall in 2024, he had a standout collegiate career, playing for Arizona State and Florida, where he racked up nearly 1,000 receiving yards in his final NCAA season.
